Magnus Poirier was born on July 30, 1895.
His wife and future business partner, Ernestine Guénette, was born in Saint-Jérôme on July 2, 1894.
Magnus Poirier, the company, is the result of the tireless efforts of this young couple who wanted to build a promising life for their future family.
Magnus Poirier completed his embalming course on June 9, 1921, with the Dominion College of Embalming and then embarked on a career in embalming for Maison J.S. Vallée in Montreal. And so, the passion was born. Ambitious, bold, enterprising and driven by an undeniable desire to succeed, Magnus Poirier obtained his funeral director’s permit on March 15, 1923, and then opened his first funeral home on St. Dominique Street in Montreal. A series of acquisitions, innovations and modernizations then gradually took place, changing the business and transforming the funeral industry into what it is today.
Magnus Poirier provides personalized service to its customers, at a time in life when people are easily overwhelmed and are in need of warmth and comfort. These concerns have continuously guided the work of the Poirier family. They have always wanted their company to take personal care of the families who trust them, just as the founder, Magnus Poirier, always desired.
